3 New Audemars Piguet Models in ‘Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50’ Ceramic

3 New Audemars Piguet Models in ‘Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50’ Ceramic

Audemars Piguet just released a trilogy of models inspired by the Vallée de Joux night sky in Switzerland.

You first saw the deep blue hue on the dial of the first-ever Royal Oak, which was brought to life by Gerald Genta in 1972. As of this year, the shade merges with ceramic, a high-tech material that’s at once bold, fresh and radiant.

Audemars Piguet’s history with ceramic dates back to the 1980s, when it created the “Bamboo” wristwatch. But 2025 marks the first time it’s dressed in Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 - a feat that took years to perfect. Achieving this depth of colour and plays of light demanded a combination of high-tech machining and traditional hand-finishing.

For whatever reason, these releases have flown largely under the radar in the media, so we wanted to introduce them to you. We’re huge fans. Meet the brand-new Royal Oak Double Balance  Wheel Openworked and two Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs.

Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked

The brand-new Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic material perfectly frames the calibre 3132, a rhodium-toned openworked movement. A single staff connects two balance wheels, bringing enhanced precision and stability to an already impressive movement.

Keeping our appreciation on the dial for a moment, you’ll notice how pink gold detailing and luminescent material in the hands and indices means they don’t get lost in the excitement.

The blue ceramic case with glareproofed sapphire crystal measures a decent-sized 41mm and has a matching bracelet fitted with a titanium AP folding clasp. Plus, the inner bezel matches the movement’s blue hue, for a satisfying sort of consistency.

Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 42mm

2025’s 42mm Royal Oak lands in a monochromatic design. Think full Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic and a blue méga tapisserie dial.

This model features luminescent 18-carat white gold hands and hour markers and steel hexagonal screws in the bezel, providing a contrast like stars in a night sky. The ceramic case consists of glareproofed sapphire crystal, titanium caseback and crown chip, and the inner bezel sticks to the Bleu Nuit theme.

Audemars Piguet introduces a brand-new ceramic bracelet with a titanium AP folding clasp.

Under the hood is one of the watchmaker’s newest integrated chronograph movements: The 4404 automatic movement with no fewer than 433 components. It features a flyback function that lets you rest and restart the chronograph without having to stop it first.

Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 43mm

Meet the last, but not least, new Royal Oak in the line-up. In this selfwinding chronograph, Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic comes face-to-face with stainless steel components (such as the case middle, caseback, crown chip and crown guards).

The striking two-toned aesthetic extends to a méga tapisserie dial, which achieves optimum readability thanks to luminescent 18-carat hands and markers, and lighter blue chronograph counters and white indications.

This one feels robust and sporty - that’s largely down to the Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 textured calfskin strap. If you’re lucky enough to pick one of these up, you’ll find a complimentary rubber strap in the box for interchangeability.

Fitted with Calibre 4401, one of AP’s newest integrated selfwinding chronograph movements, which also boasts the same flyback function as Calibre 4404.
